A lens uncovers the use of AI behind a text, why use disclaimers

The EU AI Act in Practice: 3 Ready-to-Copy Disclaimer Templates for Your Website

In our previous article we saw what it is’EU AI Act And how transparency is one of the cornerstones of the new European legislation. But how does all this translate into practice on your website?

The law is clear: when a user interacts with an artificial intelligence system or views content generated by it, must be informed in a clear, timely and transparent manner.

To avoid penalties and, above all, to maintain a solid relationship of trust with your customers, we have prepared three free, ready-to-use templates that you can copy, customize and immediately insert into your site.

1. Chatbot Disclaimer (Customer Support / Lead Generation)

The obligation: The user must know from the first moment that he is talking to a machine and not a real operator.

Where to insert it: In the automatic chat welcome message (first line) or clearly visible immediately below the text entry window.

The model to copy:

🤖 Hi! I'm the virtual assistant for [Company Name]. I'm an AI system designed to help you quickly find information about [services/products]. My texts are automatically generated. If you need complex assistance or prefer to speak to a human operator, please type "Operator" at any time. ⚠️ For your safety, please do not enter sensitive personal information (such as passwords, health, or financial information) in this chat.

2. Disclaimer for Multimedia Content (Images, Audio or Synthetic Video)

The obligation: If you use photorealistic images, videos or audio tracks created with AI on the site that could be mistaken for real (so-called deepfake or faces of non-existent people).

Where to insert it: Immediately below the image (as a caption), in the mouseover overlay, or in the metadata and description of the video/audio track.

The model to copy:

⚠️ Artificial Intelligence Generated Content This [image / audio track / video sequence] was entirely generated using artificial intelligence software for [creative / illustrative / advertising] purposes and does not represent real people, objects, places or events.

3. Disclaimer for AI-Generated Articles or Texts (Blogs / News)

The obligation: If you publish informational texts or blog posts written with the help of AI, especially if they have not been heavily rewritten or validated by a human editor.

Where to insert it: At the beginning of the article (under the title/author) or in a dedicated box at the end of the post.

The model to copy:

📝 Transparency Note: This article was written with the help of AI systems for content research, optimization, and editing. The text was subsequently reviewed, verified, and approved by our human editorial team to ensure its accuracy and authenticity.

A UX/UI Design tip for implementation

Making your site compliant doesn't mean ruining its aesthetics or user experience. Here are three golden rules recommended by the Digife development team for implementing these disclaimers effectively:

  • Make them visible, not hidden: Don't put this information in a kilometer-long page of Terms and Conditions The fine print. The AI Act requires that the information be provided at the exact moment where the user comes into contact with the AI.

  • Use light visual contrast: Use boxes with a slightly different background (e.g., light gray or pale blue) or dedicated icons (like a robot 🤖 or a notepad 📝) to grab the user's attention without being intrusive or alarming.

  • Always provide a way out: In chatbots, ensure that the user can easily request a transfer to a human. Transparency only increases trust when accompanied by a genuine willingness to listen.
