Spam received via email is a daily problem for many users. To address this challenge, Google has introduced some important innovations for Gmail users. Through an announcement on Google's official blog, the company announced that it will take tougher measures against spammers targeting Gmail users. In particular, those who send more than 5,000 messages per day will need to include a clear unsubscribe button in their emails and will need to authenticate their email addresses. This will require setting up a dedicated domain and not being able to spoof IP addresses.

Additionally, Gmail warned that if a user's messages are frequently reported as spam, they may not be delivered. These new policies will be implemented starting in February 2024. Google has also informed Yahoo of these measures, encouraging it to adopt similar strategies for its email service.

Neil Kumaran, product manager at Google, likened these changes to a “fine-tuning” for the world of email, noting that maintaining security, usability and spam-free email requires ongoing commitment and collaboration of the entire community of email users.
