E-commerce in Europe: 602 billion euros in 2017

E-commerce in Europe it is growing exponentially, especially in the countries of the South.
The online sales industry in Europe, at the end of 2017, will be around 602 billion euros, which is an increase of 14% compared to 2016.
Last year thee-commerce in Europe it recorded a turnover of 530 billion euros, an increase of 15 % compared to the previous year.
To date, the results of the European e-commerce report for 2017 presented by Ecommerce Europe, EuroCommerce and the Ecommerce Foundation, estimate growth that will be around 602 billion euros.
An interesting fact that emerged from this annual report is that the percentage of companies, with more than 10 employees, that have a website, has grown considerably: in 201o it was equal to 67%, last year it passed to 77 %.
However, only the 18% of these companies sells products / services through its own website.

Consumers who shop online
The share of consumers who shop online is higher in the markets with e-commerce mature.
For example, UK consumers' 87% orders products over the internet, while in Denmark and Germany they are 84 and 82% respectively.
In countries like Romania, Macedonia and Bulgaria the percentage of people does that online shopping it is much lower.
However, this does not mean that thee-commerce is not growing in Eastern and Central Europe.
In contrast, in Romania, online sales increased by 38%, while i e-commerce markets in Slovakia and Estonia they increased by 35%.
Ukraine recorded a growth of 31%, while Poland and Bulgaria of 25% compared to last year.

E-commerce beyond the borders of Europe
The European e-commerce report also provides us with information on cross-border e-commerce in Europe.

Last year the 33% of network users in Europe carried out online shopping abroad, with Luxembourg, Russia and Switzerland.
Of course, the percentage of those who shop online varies by age.
Last year, 2/3 of the boys aged between 16 and 24 did online shopping frequently, while only 1/3 of the age group between 55 and 64 bought online.

The most widespread criticisms concerning e-commerce
Despite all the efforts made by the European Union, there are still some things aboute-commerce which should be perfected according to those who already have aonline shopping experience.
For example, most of the criticisms from consumers concern the speed of delivery times of the goods, followed by someone complaining of technical failures and finally someone else complaining of having received the damaged goods.
