Apple's new patent for folding iPhone

Apple to beat the competition, has in mind to develop a iPhone folding. At the moment it is just a new patent issued to theUs Patent & Trademark Office in which we report the description of an electronic device with a flexible display, on which Apple is working to revolutionize its flagship product and face the advancement in search of historical rivals Samsung and Huawei.

The new patent is pending, and says the device could be “a laptop computer, a Tablet, a clock from wrist, or another electronic object ". Apple would have thought of adapting this new technology to any of its products, in particular starting right from the iPhone.

What are the novelties of the new patent?

The focal point of the new patent is the use of materials as it is the most delicate and subjected to greater stresses.

Apple thought of use Eurakite polymers (an innovative type of material that can fold and roll up like a sheet of paper) at the folding area, adding glass and aluminum to define the structure. To make it foldable, it would be the use of carbon nanotubes that would facilitate the folding of the device avoiding damaging the circuits placed just below.

Apple points out that the device would have a single joint, which will allow the iPhone to fold in multiple ways. This is the focal point for understanding how research for building a Foldable iPhone. So a device with these structural specifications will become in one go smartphone, tablet, TV screen, a car display, a monitor to play games. Very soon we could get used to the idea of flexible displays not only in the field of mobile devices.

When could we expect the new foldable iPhone?

The foldable iPhone from Apple will see the light in 2019, or most likely even more in 2020.
