The report shows an increase in conversions, the cost per lead seems sustainable, and the ads continue to receive clicks.

Then the sales department opens the list of requests and discovers that many contacts don't respond, others aren't really interested, and only a small portion can become customers.

This is where campaign analysis often stops: Google Ads He knows that a person filled out a form, but he doesn't always know what happened next.

The new Lead Management Dashboard Google Ads is trying to bridge this gap. Google Ads is introducing a dedicated environment for managing contacts collected through forms hosted directly on the platform, allowing advertisers to view, organize, and distinguish them based on their actual commercial value.

This new feature doesn't transform Google Ads into a full-fledged CRM. However, it does introduce a significant change: the campaign is no longer monitored solely until the form is filled out, but also through what happens to the contact in subsequent stages.

The problem is not how many forms are filled out

Lead forms allow people to submit their information directly within an ad, without having to visit an external page. They can be used to gather interest as users search, watch videos, or browse other content on Google properties.

This makes the process quicker, but does not automatically guarantee better contacts.

A person might fill out the form out of curiosity, submit it by mistake, ask for a service the company doesn't offer, or not have the necessary budget. In all these cases, Google Ads still records a conversion.

The result is that two campaigns can produce the same number of leads and actually have a completely different value.

The problem isn't getting forms filled out. It's figuring out how many of those forms can become customers.

The new dashboard was created precisely to make this difference more visible.

What is the Google Ads Lead Management Dashboard?

The Lead Management Dashboard is an interface integrated into Google Ads dedicated to contacts generated through forms hosted by Google.

The screen provides a centralized overview of the activity and allows you to distinguish different contact conditions, including:

total leads acquired;

new leads still to be managed;

qualified leads;

lost leads;

status and progress of individual contacts.

Each request can be viewed through a form containing the data provided by the user and the information needed to track its progress.

The immediate advantage is organizational. A company can monitor contacts without having to first download them, transfer them to a spreadsheet, or consult them through different tools.

But the most interesting innovation isn't just about the dashboard's convenience. It's about the information that can be returned to the advertising platform.

Google Ads wants to know which contacts are really valuable

Until now, many lead generation campaigns have been evaluated almost exclusively through quantitative indicators: number of forms completed, cost per conversion, and overall volume of requests.

These numbers describe what happened in the announcement, but they don't necessarily tell you what happened in the marketing process.

If ten people fill out a form and none meet the requirements, the campaign has generated ten conversions but no real opportunities.

By updating lead status and distinguishing qualified contacts from lost ones, advertisers can provide Google with signals that are closer to the business outcome. The platform can then understand not only who fills out the form, but also the characteristics of the people most likely to follow through.

Google has been working in this direction for some time. The platform already allows the use of categories such as qualified lead is lead converted in importing conversions from company systems.

The dashboard makes this principle more accessible even to organizations that don't yet have an advanced infrastructure.

What changes for Smart Bidding

Smart Bidding uses Google's artificial intelligence to automatically adjust bids during each auction, taking into account available objectives and signals.

The dashboard doesn't introduce a new bidding system. However, it can improve the quality of the information used for optimization.

When the platform receives only a form completion signal, it tends to seek out other people likely to perform the same action. If, however, it receives information about qualified leads or closed sales, it can orient itself toward results closer to the real commercial value.

In other words, Google Ads can shift from finding the people most likely to fill out a form to finding those most likely to become good leads.

It's a substantial difference.

AI doesn't improve a campaign because it receives more data. It improves it when it receives more useful data.

Precisely for this reason, Google recommends focusing on the quality of the information, the qualification process, and the return of conversions following the first request.

Questions in forms can already filter some of the contacts

In addition to the dashboard, Google Ads also provides so-called qualifying answers.

Advertisers can enter questions into the form regarding needs, interests, or willingness to purchase and indicate which answers identify a potentially more interesting contact. Matching requests can be automatically marked as qualified. This option is currently available for search network campaigns.

For example, a company might ask:

which service are you interested in;

by when do you intend to proceed;

what investment range is available;

in which geographical area the work is to be carried out.

This doesn't mean turning the form into an interrogation. It means preventing all forms from being treated as equal.

More questions may reduce the overall number of contacts, but they help better understand who is requesting information. The choice therefore depends on the balance between ease of completion and desired quality.

Can a dashboard replace a CRM?

For some basic tasks, the new interface can reduce the need for external tools. A small business with few contacts can view requests, update status, and arrange initial follow-up directly from Google Ads.

This does not mean, however, that the dashboard replaces a professional CRM.

A CRM continues to be necessary when you need to:

assign contacts to different salespeople;

record phone calls, emails, appointments and estimates;

automate reminders and communications;

manage long or complex negotiations;

connect leads to customers, orders and invoices;

analyze the entire sales process;

maintain a complete history of relationships.

The Google Ads dashboard is therefore more correctly an initial lead management environment, not a complete system for managing the customer relationship.

The real benefit isn't eliminating CRM. It's enabling even the least structured companies to start classifying what happens after conversion.

Marketing and sales can finally look at the same problem

One of the most common limitations in lead generation is not technical, but organizational.

Marketing considers a campaign positive because the cost per lead has decreased. Sales considers it negative because the leads are uninteresting. Both assessments may be correct, but they're looking at two different stages of the same journey.

A shared view of contact status can bridge this gap.

Marketing can understand which campaigns are generating truly actionable leads. Sales can flag which leads are irrelevant. Google Ads can use this information to progressively optimize budget allocation.

The dashboard alone won't solve the problem. You still need a clear method to decide when a lead is new, qualified, lost, or converted.

Without shared criteria, even a more advanced platform ends up displaying data that is difficult to interpret.

Switching to Data Manager makes the process even more integrated

The new lead management comes as Google is also changing the infrastructure it uses to import post-enquiry conversions.

From June 15, 2026, Google has planned to migrate uploads for offline conversions and advanced conversions for leads to the Data Manager API, blocking some previous upload flows.

Additionally, starting in April 2026, Google Ads will simultaneously accept user-provided data through site tags, Data Manager, and API connections. Starting in June, advanced conversions for web and leads will be consolidated for easier management within your account.

These updates point to a clear direction: Google wants to increasingly closely connect advertising, first-party data, lead qualification, and business results.

For companies, this means having more tools, but also greater responsibility in the configuration and quality of the information transmitted.

More data on the platform means more attention to privacy

The collection and management of names, emails, phone numbers and other personal information cannot be considered solely an advertising matter.

When a company uses Google Ads forms, it must have an adequate privacy policy, collect only the necessary data, define who can access it, and establish how it will be used in sales follow-up.

Furthermore, a frequent simplification must be avoided: the parameter
ad_storage
It does not replace Google Analytics and is not a new setting introduced exclusively for the Lead Management Dashboard.

In Consent Mode, the main signals perform different functions:

ad_storage
regulates the storage of cookies and identifiers related to advertising;

analytics_storage
concerns storage linked to analysis activities;

ad_user_data
regulates consent to the sending of user data to Google for advertising purposes;

ad_personalization
It concerns the use of data for ad personalization.

In particular, Google specifies that
ad_user_data
This is required for some measurement cases, including advanced conversions and tag-based conversion tracking.

For this reason, it's not enough to verify that the campaign is collecting contacts. It's also important to ensure that banners, consent mode, forms, policies, and internal procedures are consistent with the data processing performed.

The presence of a new dashboard does not transfer all advertiser responsibilities to Google.

What should a company check now?

Before using the new lead management, there are five things you should check.

The first is the source of the contacts. The dashboard primarily focuses on leads collected through forms hosted by Google and doesn't automatically replace the management of requests coming from the website, phone calls, emails, or other channels.

The second is the definition of a qualified lead. The company must establish concrete criteria: geographic area, service requested, available investment, urgency, or other elements truly useful for the sale.

The third is response speed. A more organized dashboard is useless if no one contacts people within a reasonable timeframe.

The fourth is the connection with the sales process. You need to decide who updates the lead status, how frequently, and based on what information.

The fifth is measurement. It's not enough to simply look at how many contacts arrive. You need to compare advertising costs, qualified leads, quotes, sales, and the value generated.

Only in this way can the new function produce a real benefit.

The most important news comes after the click

The Lead Management Dashboard makes Google Ads more relevant to the needs of companies that need to actually manage the requests generated by their campaigns.

It can streamline work, reduce some manual exports, and help teams distinguish useful contacts from simple fills. It can also provide better signals to automated bidding systems.

But it doesn't automatically solve a campaign's problems.

If your offer is unclear, your form attracts the wrong people, or your sales team responds too late, the dashboard will make these limitations more visible without eliminating them.

True evolution isn't about having a new dashboard. It's about starting to evaluate campaigns based on what happens after the conversion.

A completed form isn't yet a result. The result comes when that contact finds a reason to choose the company.

If campaigns generate requests but few become commercial opportunities, increasing the budget is not the first step. DigiFe Analyze where the process loses effectiveness, from the ad's promise to contact management, to understand why advertising generates numbers but not enough customers.

Google Ads introduces a dashboard for managing leads: more control after completing the form.
