We are talking about the<strong data-start=\"382\" data-end=\"418\">European Accessibility Act (EAA)<\/strong>: a regulation that imposes <strong data-start=\"445\" data-end=\"495\">mandatory digital accessibility standards<\/strong> for websites, apps, e-commerce, digital services and technology products across the European Union.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"595\" data-end=\"620\">Is your website ready?<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"622\" data-end=\"663\">What is the European Accessibility Act?<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"664\" data-end=\"946\">The European Accessibility Act aims to ensure that <strong data-start=\"714\" data-end=\"766\">all citizens, including those with disabilities<\/strong>, can access digital services and content in a fair and simple way. From June 2025, this will no longer be advice: it will be a legal obligation for most businesses.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"948\" data-end=\"973\">Who has to comply?<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"974\" data-end=\"1137\">The obligation concerns <strong data-start=\"993\" data-end=\"1033\">all public and private enterprises<\/strong> who provide digital services or products in the EU. The only exception concerns <strong data-start=\"1116\" data-end=\"1132\">micro-enterprises<\/strong> That:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1138\" data-end=\"1219\">\n<li data-start=\"1138\" data-end=\"1171\">\n<p data-start=\"1140\" data-end=\"1171\">They have less than <strong data-start=\"1154\" data-end=\"1171\">10 employees<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1172\" data-end=\"1219\">\n<p data-start=\"1174\" data-end=\"1219\">They invoice less than <strong data-start=\"1192\" data-end=\"1219\">2 million euros per year<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr data-start=\"1345\" data-end=\"1348\" \/>\n<h3 data-start=\"1350\" data-end=\"1403\">What does it mean to make a site \u201caccessible\u201d?<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1405\" data-end=\"1471\">Adapting your site to accessibility standards means:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1473\" data-end=\"1829\">\n<li data-start=\"1473\" data-end=\"1542\">\n<p data-start=\"1475\" data-end=\"1542\">Offer <strong data-start=\"1483\" data-end=\"1504\">alternative texts<\/strong> for images and multimedia content<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1543\" data-end=\"1623\">\n<p data-start=\"1545\" data-end=\"1623\">Guarantee <strong data-start=\"1555\" data-end=\"1582\">keyboard navigation<\/strong> and compatibility with assistive technologies<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1624\" data-end=\"1686\">\n<p data-start=\"1626\" data-end=\"1686\">Use <strong data-start=\"1637\" data-end=\"1667\">high contrast colors<\/strong> for texts and backgrounds<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1687\" data-end=\"1766\">\n<p data-start=\"1689\" data-end=\"1766\">Semantically structure content with <strong data-start=\"1732\" data-end=\"1766\">ARIA labels, titles and roles<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1767\" data-end=\"1829\">\n<p data-start=\"1769\" data-end=\"1829\">Give <strong data-start=\"1777\" data-end=\"1829\">understandable and usable forms, errors and feedback<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1831\" data-end=\"1912\">The gold standard? The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/Translations\/WCAG21-it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong data-start=\"1862\" data-end=\"1885\">WCAG 2.1 Level AA<\/strong><\/a> and the <strong data-start=\"1891\" data-end=\"1911\">EN 301 549 standard<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"1914\" data-end=\"1917\" \/>\n<h3 data-start=\"1919\" data-end=\"1957\">What if your site is not compliant?<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1958\" data-end=\"1998\">Ignoring the adjustment can be costly:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2000\" data-end=\"2225\">\n<li data-start=\"2000\" data-end=\"2034\">\n<p data-start=\"2002\" data-end=\"2034\"><strong data-start=\"2002\" data-end=\"2014\">Sanctions<\/strong> in case of verification<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2035\" data-end=\"2090\">\n<p data-start=\"2037\" data-end=\"2090\"><strong data-start=\"2037\" data-end=\"2062\">Automatic exclusion<\/strong> from public tenders and contracts<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2091\" data-end=\"2156\">\n<p data-start=\"2093\" data-end=\"2156\"><strong data-start=\"2093\" data-end=\"2120\">Compromised reputation<\/strong> with reports from users<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2157\" data-end=\"2225\">\n<p data-start=\"2159\" data-end=\"2225\"><strong data-start=\"2159\" data-end=\"2181\">Loss of customers<\/strong> increasingly attentive to digital inclusiveness<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2227\" data-end=\"2387\">It&#039;s not just about complying with the law: accessibility is <strong data-start=\"2288\" data-end=\"2315\">a concrete opportunity<\/strong> to improve user experience and reach a wider audience.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"2389\" data-end=\"2392\" \/>\n<h3 data-start=\"2394\" data-end=\"2432\">Exemptions?
