\u00abMore and more automated and robotic, the cars of the future will become more like a second home, a place to relax or work, while the car drives alone and the driver becomes a passenger. This is the idea that researchers from the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering IAO and other industrial partners are working on to create a prototype.<\/p>\n
With vehicles accelerating and braking in total autonomy, the driver will have time to admire their surroundings in a different way from the windshield or windows or to get comfortable watching a movie, with the interior of the car being transformed into an office or living room. Sebastian Stegmuller, coordinator of the research group, is working on the autonomous cars of the future. "An idea - he explains - could be to imagine services that, through artificial intelligence, transform the windshield into a multifunctional screen, and buy tickets for a show, while going to see it".
