The announcement is an opportunity for Musk to reject LIDAR radar technology, the one used by rivals in the development of autonomous cars.<\/p>\n

The company's stock was down on Wall Street yesterday after one of its cars caught fire in a parking lot in Shanghai. "We have sent a team to the scene and are working with local authorities to ascertain what happened," Tesla says of the Model S explosion. "<\/p>\n
