{"id":27034,"date":"2017-01-12T11:28:31","date_gmt":"2017-01-12T11:28:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.digife.it\/?p=27034"},"modified":"2017-03-07T11:11:22","modified_gmt":"2017-03-07T11:11:22","slug":"d-http-https-the-rules-change-stay-first","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.digife.it\/en\/d-http-https-the-rules-change-stay-first\/","title":{"rendered":"HTTP to HTTPS: the rules change to stay first"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>From HTTP to HTTPS: here are the new Google provisions to stay high in search engine positions and for safe browsing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">From the <strong>1 January 2017<\/strong> <strong>Google<\/strong> is discouraging pages with <strong>HTTP connection<\/strong> in favor of those with <strong>HTTPS connection<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With the new <strong>Chrome and Firefox browser update<\/strong>, all resulting sites lacking <strong>SSL certification<\/strong> they will be labeled with the words &quot;unsafe site&quot; (discover ours <a href=\"\/\/www.digife.it\/en\/safety\/http-https-guide-to-symbols-safe-navigation\/\">&quot;Guide to symbols for safe navigation&quot;<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In fact, for several months now Google has been carrying out a campaign for web security, rewarding sites with a security protocol with a ranking among the first results on its search engines.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>With the release of Chrome 56<\/strong>, scheduled for January 2017, all http sites that exchange personal data will be reported to the user as unsafe for the benefit of the protocol <strong>HTTPS<\/strong> which instead will be inserted into the algorithm.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This update is not to be underestimated when you think that Chrome is the most used browser in the world.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On top of that, there is also the fact that sites lacking the <strong>HTTPS security protocol<\/strong> after the update they will be penalized in the results of the Google search engine, which is no small problem if we consider that the same<strong> is the most used search engine in the world<\/strong>, Mostly in <strong>Italy<\/strong> where is it <strong>it is used by over 95% of Internet users.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>What is the<\/strong> <strong>HTTPS protocol<\/strong>?<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>HTTPS<\/strong> (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) is an internet communication protocol that protects the integrity and confidentiality of data exchanged between computers and websites.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Browsing a site with <strong>https protocol<\/strong> you are guaranteed a safe navigation between the visitor of the <strong>website<\/strong> and the server that hosts the site, thus ensuring that users comply with the <strong>privacy<\/strong> and the protection of data exchanged regardless of the contents of the site.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>How does the HTTPS protocol work?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Data sent using<strong> https<\/strong> are protected by the TLS (Transport Layer Security) protocol which provides three essential levels of protection:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><strong>Encryption<\/strong>: that is, the data exchanged is encrypted to protect them from interception. This means that while the user consults a website, no one can track his conversations, consult the activities carried out on multiple pages or steal his information.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Data integrity<\/strong>: Data cannot be modified or damaged during the transfer, intentionally or unintentionally, without being detected.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Authentication<\/strong>- Shows that users are communicating with the intended website. It protects against man-in-the-middle attacks and instills trust in users, bringing further commercial benefits.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>How can you adapt your website to HTTPS?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To get the <strong>https protocol<\/strong> you need to install a <strong>SSL certificate<\/strong> (Secure Socket Layer) and configure the system to work with this protocol.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Migration from HTTP to HTTPS is not mandatory, but those who have a website where an exchange of personal data takes place, such as a <strong>e-commerce<\/strong>, obviously he will be forced to acquire certification to migrate his site to the security protocol.
