«The flaw in the Whatsapp code that exposed the app to the attack of a spyware revealed today has already been 'fixed', and it is enough to have the latest version of both the application and the operating system to be immune.

This was stated by the same company in a statement. “Whatsapp encourages people to update the app to the latest version, and also to keep the operating system up to date, to protect themselves from potential attacks designed to compromise the information on the device - it reads -.

We are constantly working with our partners to provide the latest updates to protect our users ”.

The problem, explains the company, concerns WhatsApp for Android in versions before 2.19.134, WhatsApp Business for Android before 2.19.44, WhatsApp for iOS before 2.19.51, WhatsApp Business for iOS before 2.19.51, WhatsApp for Windows Phone before 2.18.348 and WhatsApp for Tizen before 2.18.15. Spyware is embedded in data packets sent when a call is made, and forces the receiving device's app to overwrite certain parts of the memory. "
